Context
eSmart gives schools and families resources that align with national curriculum. When their Media Literacy Lab & Digital Licence + products were feeling stale, they turned to us to reinvent their platforms for a modern audience.
With my background in video games, I bridged the gap between an easy to use teacher management platform and the delightful teaching experience for young adults.

MLL (12 - 16)
DL+ (10 - 14)
Two Audiences, Two Experiences
Because of funding models, curriculum requirements, teacher’s access & seat deployments – we created two separate products. Each have a unique art style and student experience catered to each age group. Both designed to meet WCAG 2.1 AA Standards
Uncomplicated
This program is not the teachers primary job. We kept their experience lean and focused on student tracking and management.

Easy Oversight
Teachers are in control of how they release content across their students and can easily see how they are progressing in real time.

No IT Required
Making it easier for teachers to facilitate many student logins, we created a sign in via a session id created by their teacher.

Student Experience
Immersive Student Experience
While the adults had a functional management experience. We designed the student experience to be fun and rewarding. Allowing them to earn badges and unlock new areas as they progress.

Content Design
One of the biggest challenges we had in supporting AMF was in the creation of content. We learnt from Media Literacy Lab that bespoke illustrations took too much time to generate quality content. We took another approach for Digital Licence +
Character Design System
Building off the recently released Figma variants, we created an easy to use, completely modular character design system. With the extensive component library, we were able to boost content creation of supporting imagery by x8 in the same time frame.
